It is the second privately-owned television channel in Malayalam-language, which began to air after Asianet. The channel is part of Sun TV Network, which is headquartered at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
JAL released their 3rd Album 'Pyaas' on 11 March 2013. Unlike Fawad, critics found his acting weaker than his vocals. Jal band songs. On 16 March 2017, Surya TV became the third Malayalam-language channel to launch a high-definition simulcast feed broadcasting at 1080i.
